Musician Molemo Maarohanye, famously known as Jub Jub’s case, has once again been postponed, this time for the submission of representations to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP). Jub Jub made a brief appearance at the Johannesburg Magistrate Court, sporting a distinctive pantsula military attire, complemented with white sneakers and a green two-piece outfit, the shirt casually unbuttoned to reveal a white vest. Accompanying him were his two uncles, cousins, and two bouncers.

Postponement Request

Defence Advocate Terrence Baloyi requested the postponement, citing the need to submit representations to the DPP. “Your worship, we are seeking a postponement to allow us to present our case to the DPP directly. We propose the next hearing to be scheduled in April,” he stated. Previously, the matter had been adjourned to allow the defence to provide submissions to the state for consideration.

Jub Jub faces multiple charges, including indecent assault, assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, and several counts of kidnapping. The accusations stem from complaints filed by three individuals, all of whom are prominent figures and have had past relationships with Jub Jub.

Completion of Investigation

State Prosecutor Agnes Bezuidenhout did not contest the postponement. She reiterated that the prosecution had concluded its investigations and was prepared to proceed.

“We have furnished the defence with all relevant information, and while they have requested further time, we do not oppose it. It’s worth noting that the investigation into this matter concluded some time ago, and the defence has been provided with a detailed list of charges,” she explained.

The next hearing has been scheduled for early April.
