Renowned gospel singer Ayanda Ntanzi accused Kabza De Small of remixing his song without consent. Ntanzi revealed that he only learned about the remix when fans and colleagues contacted him, assuming the two had collaborated.

Without any official communication, Ntanzi explained how baffling it was to suddenly see his name linked to Kabza De Small, one of South Africa’s top music producers. “People started contacting me, congratulating me for working with Kabza, and I was completely in the dark,” he said. “When I checked YouTube, I found the remix, and although the track sounds good, I would have appreciated being approached first.”

Ntanzi said that his team has attempted to reach out to Kabza’s management to seek clarification and discuss a way forward. However, no response has been received yet.

“It’s about respect and professional courtesy. As artists, we should communicate with each other, especially when using someone else’s creative work.”

A Missed Opportunity for Collaboration

“I would not have declined if he had just asked,” Ntanzi continued. “In fact, I’ve done remixes with other artists, such as DJ Cleo, where everything was handled properly and professionally. It would have been a great opportunity to work together.”

This unexpected turn of events left Ntanzi feeling not only excluded from a project that bears his own musical signature but also disrespected by the lack of communication. He emphasized that this is more than just an issue of legalities or credit; it’s about maintaining respect within the artistic community.

Mixed Reactions from the Public

While Ayanda Ntanzi is a beloved figure in the gospel music scene, he has also been the subject of social media chatter in the past. In July, his solo show at the Durban ICC generated a flurry of reactions online, with fans praising his dynamic performance, while some critics humorously labelled him a “Chris Brown wannabe” due to his energetic stage presence.

Despite the mixed reactions, Ntanzi’s dedication to his craft remains steadfast. He continues to build his career as a versatile gospel artist, determined to maintain his artistic integrity and honour his faith through his music.

Kabza De Small Unavailable for Comment

As of now, Kabza De Small and his team have not issued any statement regarding the remix. Whether this issue will lead to further discussions or legal action remains to be seen. In the meantime, Ayanda hopes that this situation will remind artists to respect each other’s creative contributions and engage in open communication before taking liberties with someone else’s work.

“I really hope Kabza will reach out to me personally so we can resolve this amicably,” Ntanzi concluded.
