Kagiso Modupe Under Fire for Failing to Pay Pound4Pound Actors for Two Months
Actor and businessman Kagiso Modupe is under fire for failing to pay the staff and crew of his production company, Pound4Pound, for almost two months.
Despite public outcry and media attention, Modupe’s team claims payments have been delayed due to unforeseen challenges, while staff members continue to express frustration over mounting debt.
Staff Left Waiting for Payment
Actors and crew members from Pound4Pound have reportedly not received their salaries for nearly two months. Despite their patience and hope that media exposure would prompt a response, their situation remains unresolved. One actor, speaking on condition of anonymity to Zimoja, revealed the extent of the financial strain caused by the delays.
“We wrapped Pound4Pound, and he hasn’t paid. We are very patient, but by the time our money comes, we would have accumulated so much debt. I had to borrow money from a loan shark just to keep up with my rent and school fees. It’s embarrassing when people assume stars like us are financially stable, but we can’t even make ends meet,” the actor shared.
Accusations of Extravagant Spending
Tensions among the crew have escalated following reports that Modupe recently purchased a luxury vehicle for his wife.
“He bought her a Range Rover, yet he hasn’t paid us. This isn’t the first time. He did the same thing on Losing Lerato and Ingoma, “the anonymous actor claimed.
Staff members, now struggling with debt, feel their financial hardships are being ignored.
“We keep borrowing from loan sharks just to get by. It’s not fair,” the actor added.
Kagiso Modupe Responds to Delays
In response to the growing discontent, Kagiso Modupe sent a message to the staff acknowledging the payment delays.
“We are having sleepless nights and going through the same stress,” Modupe stated.
He emphasized that his company has consistently paid its employees on time in the past and expressed gratitude for their dedication in completing the series within 21 days.
“We value your contribution, and despite the challenges, the series has been renewed for a second season,” Modupe added.
However, he also admitted that money is “not readily available” at the moment, which has caused the delays
