Kelly Khumalo’s Mother Roped in As Star Witness Jub Jub Rape Trial
Kelly Khumalo’s mother, Ntombi “Makhumalo,” has been called as one of three witnesses by the National Prosecution Authority (NPA) to testify against Jubu Jub in his upcoming trial scheduled for November. Jubu Jub, the host of “Uyajola 9/9,” is facing multiple charges, including rape, assault, and attempted murder.
Notably, Khumalo’s mother and her sister, Zandile, are among the alleged victims of Jubu Jub. This case stems from a series of domestic violence incidents reported by Kelly Khumalo, which took place over a decade ago. These incidents involve physical abuse, assault, and rape allegedly committed by her ex-boyfriend and the father of her child, Molemo “Jub Jub” Maarohanye.
In 2009, Kelly Khumalo became pregnant with Jub Jub’s son and moved in with him in 2010, marking the beginning of a tumultuous period for her.
Incidents of Abuse
One incident described by Kelly Khumalo occurred when Jub Jub was released on bail after a tragic accident that resulted in the death of several schoolchildren in Soweto. While visiting friends in Rivonia, the couple had an argument. Allegedly, Jubu Jub pushed Kelly Khumalo against a wall and strangled her while she was eight months pregnant. Subsequently, Kelly Khumalo sought medical treatment at the Sandton Clinic due to severe abdominal pains.
In June 2010, Jub Jub picked up Kelly Khumalo after she had finished filming for “Rhythm City” and accused her of having a relationship with one of her co-actors. He slapped her upon arriving at their residence, but he later apologized, and Kelly forgave him for the sake of their newborn child.
In the same year, Kelly Khumalo suffered further physical abuse when Jub Jub punched her forcefully, causing her to collide with a doorframe and injure her nose.
In another distressing incident, Jub Jub allegedly struck her on the lip with his fist, leaving a visible scar. Kelly sought medical attention and had her lip stitched.

Why Kelly Khumalo’s Mother Has Been Enlisted As Witness in Jub Jub Rape Trial
Kelly Khumalo also alleges that Jub Jub assaulted her mother and sister at their family home in Vosloorus, east of Johannesburg. A confrontation arose when Jub Jub demanded Kelly Khumalo’s bank card and car keys, and she refused. He struck her on the head with a glass, causing injuries that required medical treatment. Kelly’s mother and sister tried to protect her from further harm.
Furthermore, Kelly Khumalo claims that Jub Jub raped her in 2012 when she declined to be intimate with him. According to her statement to the police, Jub Jub reportedly used a pillow to suffocate her during the assault. He placed it over her face and, after he finished, left for his court hearing.

Tampering with Evidence
Separately, during the Senzo Meyiwa murder trial last month, the court heard that Kelly Khumalo’s mother tampered with evidence.
Sergeant Timothy Mathebula revealed how Makhumalo picked up a hat that she claimed one of the intruders had worn. Mathebula promptly instructed Kelly Khumalo’s mother to place the hat down as it constituted vital evidence.
