Kensington Arrest Takes a Disturbing Turn: Suspect Dragged Behind Police Van in Viral Video

South Africans online are incensed after SAPS officers dragged a suspect behind their police van after arresting him.

Police arrested the man on allegations of drug possession after catching him with cocaine and mandrax tablets. According to IOL, the man also had a gun and had fired shots prior to the arrival of the police.

The Horrific Incident

The police got to the scene and arrested the suspect on allegations that he had drugs on him. After apprehending him, he attempted to resist, and a scuffle ensued.

Police officers subdue him and handcuff him on the door at the back of their police van. By this time, residents had gathered at the scene, shouting at the cops.

In an instant, the police officers got into the car and took off, with the suspect stuck and tied at the back of the vehicle. He tried to run as the car moved but got too slow, and the van started dragging him.

The horrified Kensington residents started yelling and chasing the van, hoping this would make the cops stop. This did not help, and the police sped away, yanking the hapless suspect.

Police Release More Details After Dragging A Suspect On A Police Van In Kensington

Police spokesperson Joseph Swartbooi confirmed the arrest, revealing that the suspect was allegedly found in possession of cocaine and mandrax tablets.

“Disgruntled community members started pelting the police officers with stones while the suspect was already handcuffed. The SAPS members drove to a safe area where they placed the suspect into the holding area of the SAPS vehicle.”
