Khama Billiat Makes History With Record-Breaking US$40,000 Deal, Highest Signing-On Fee in Zimbabwean Football
Former Mamelodi Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs star Khama Billiat has set a new benchmark in Zimbabwean football earnings. The 33-year-old forward secured an eye-watering US$40,000 (R748,000) signing-on fee after joining Scottland FC, the highest ever paid by a Zimbabwean club to a player.
Sources close to the deal told FARPost: “No other player has received this amount in Zimbabwe’s football history. This is a game-changer.”
Scottland FC officials unveiled Billiat with much excitement, hailing his reputation and proven track record. “This is a historic moment for the club and Zimbabwean football. We believe Khama’s experience will elevate our team,” said a club representative.

Billiat, who was already the highest-paid player in the Zimbabwe Premier Soccer League last season, continues his reign as the top earner. Walter Magaya, owner of Yadah FC, was full of praise for Billiat’s impact. “Khama proved his worth on and off the pitch. His contributions were invaluable,” Magaya said in an earlier interview.
Now, with Scottland FC doubling his signing-on fee to US$40,000, Billiat has entered uncharted financial territory in Zimbabwean football. His monthly earnings, though undisclosed, are expected to match his elite profile.
A local sports analyst commented, “This deal is unprecedented. It reflects how highly Khama is valued in Zimbabwe and beyond.”
Scottland FC’s Ambitious Statement
Billiat’s record-breaking deal is just one part of Scottland FC’s bold strategy. The club also signed 2025 Player of the Season Walter Musona and Lynoth Chikuhwa, the second runner-up.
