Another development on the issue is that a 17 year old who was earlier arrested by police in connection with Mapula’s death was released by Ventersdorp Magistrates Court due to insufficient evidence on the case.
Mapula Khune, the sister to Kaizer Chiefs and Bafana Bafana goalkeeper Itumelang Khune was burnt beyond recognition on Thursday last week at the backroom of her parent’s house in Tshing, Extension 2, Ventersdorp.
But before she died – and on the same fateful night, Mapula had a vision of her own death, says her mother Florah.
She told her mother that she saw ambulances and police cars surrounding their house.
This was the same night when a 17 year old boy who’s now a suspect in the case came through asking for assistance with homework from Mapula.
But Mapula, who had been disturbed by her vision went to rest and let her cousin assist the boy.
“He wanted her to help him with his homework. I directed him to where Mapula was. Her cousin came later and helped the boy as Mapula told him she had a vision,” she told Daily Sun.
The next morning her mother, Florah says she got disturbed by noises that came from neighbours who were shouting that there was fire in the house.
She took this lightly as there were no flames or smoke coming out of the house.
Florah says she even sent away firefighters who were attending to the fire.
After sending them away, I found out that the backroom was indeed on fire. My husband and I screamed, hoping our daughter was not inside,” she said.
But, only to find her daughters lifeless body – burnt beyond recognition – after they broke into the house.
