KwaZulu-Natal Police Refute Claims of Recovering Gun Linked to AKA’s Murder
KwaZulu-Natal police have denied media reports suggesting that the firearm used in the murders of Kiernan “AKA” Forbes and Tebello “Tibz” Motsoane has been recovered. The police have criticized media outlets for complicating the murder investigations. Earlier, it was reported that an alleged gun connected to AKA’s murder had been found in Umlazi over the weekend.

Unconfirmed Reports of Gun Recovery

Police Decline to Comment on Alleged Weapon
In response to the news, the police have downplayed the media reports and declined to provide any comments regarding the alleged weapon. KwaZulu-Natal police spokesperson Colonel Robert Netshiunda stated, “We stand by our statement, which appealed to the media to afford our investigators time to work without undue pressure. We are not giving any blow-by-blow updates on the matter, and we clearly requested space to work.”

Police Condemn Unethical Reporting
The police have criticized media houses for their unethical, insensitive, and inconsiderate reporting. In a statement, the police expressed their concerns: “Some media houses, who clearly seem hell-bent to botch any police endeavors in finding the killers and bringing justice to the families of the victims, have started the day on Tuesday morning with unsubstantiated rumors and malicious allegations about the recovery of the so-called murder weapon. This insensitive, unethical, and inconsiderate reporting has the potential to arm persons of interest with ammunition to further complicate the police’s progress into the matter.”
AKA and Tibz were fatally shot in Durban in February, but the police have been struggling to make progress in the case three months later. In March, four men who were initially arrested in connection with the murder were later released.
