A father from KwaZulu-Natal startled the public after he killed his son because he had fried a big piece of boerewors.
Shock And Pain
Thirty-nine-year-old father Bhekinkosi Mchunu from Himeville in Pietermaritzburg in KwaZulu-Natal is up for the murder of his son, 22-year-old Ntando Mchunu. Community members are still grappling with the tragic incident.
Last week, Ntando came home from the tavern, and he was stone drunk. On arriving home, he took a big piece of boerewors and started frying it before eating all of it.
Bhekinkosi found out his son had fried and eaten a massive chunk of the wors, and a nasty fight ensued.
Ntando’s uncle, Steven Zakwe, confirmed that the incident happened. He expressed bewilderment that Mchunu would not mind murdering his son over a piece of meat.
“Mchunu told me that he disciplined Ntando on the night of the incident when I asked him about a fight that was reported to me. He never mentioned to me that Ntando had passed away because of the injuries he suffered. We are disturbed by this incident, but we have faith in our justice system,” he said.

How A Father Killed His Son Over Boerewors
Bhekinkosi’s neighbour who spoke to Zimoja narrated the gruesome murder:
“Mchunu came back from work, and when he found his son frying a big chunk of wors, a fight ensued, with the angry father using all sorts of objects to assault his son. Ever since I was born I have never seen something like that. Ntando was badly injured, and he had a big scar on his forehead that looked like an iron rod was used. It was traumatic,” the neighbour vividly recalled.
The South African Police Service (SAPS) apprehended Bhekinkosi Mchunu on the day of the murder. He made his first appearance at the Pietermaritzburg Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday.
