A 29-year-old KZN man allegedly killed his 70-year-old granny, Nombulelo Nxumalo, after she served him warmed-up food on Sunday.

KZN Man Took His Granny’s Life For Serving Him Warmed-Up Food
A family member told The Daily Sun that the drama began when the 29-year-old man was served reheated food.
“He wasn’t happy that his food had been warmed up. He angrily asked, ‘Who gave her the right to warm up my food?’” Nxumalo recalled.
Despite the desperate efforts of both his grandmother, Nombulelo, and grandfather, Richard Vilakazi, to calm him down, the situation quickly spiralled out of control. The man allegedly grabbed a hammer and brutally attacked his grandparents. His father, Bongani Vilakazi, also tried to step in and stop the assault, and the violent man smashed him.

Family Speaks On The Tragedy, Reveals Suspicions
The violent outburst has left the family reeling, especially as they suspect that drugs may have played a role in the attack.
“He’s always been violent, and we think it’s because of the drugs. His mother even got him arrested once, but later, she had him released. She’s devastated by what’s happened.”
The quiet neighbourhood of Ndwedwe is now shaken by the brutal incident. Residents are struggling to comprehend how an argument over something as small as food could end in such devastating violence.
KZN police spokesperson Colonel Robert Netshiunda confirmed that the 29-year-old suspect has been arrested and charged with murder and two counts of attempted murder. He is expected to appear in the Ndwedwe Magistrates Court soon.
