Reality TV star and radio presenter Lethabo Lejoy Mathatho has lost her luxury car to the bank but still faces a hefty debt.
The 39-year-old, famous for her role on Real Housewives of Joburg and as a Thobela FM presenter, reportedly owes Nedbank R186,687.86 after failing to meet her payment agreement.
Lethabo Lejoy Loses Car
The red 2012 Land Rover Evoque, which Lejoy bought in 2017, was repossessed after she defaulted on her instalments. Court papers reveal she originally owed R581,265.67 and agreed to pay 70 monthly instalments of R6,917.05 starting in September 2017. The final instalment of R90,043.40 was due in July 2023, but when she failed to meet her obligations, Nedbank moved to repossess the vehicle.
According to court documents, Nedbank obtained a court order in 2023 confirming the cancellation of the agreement, and the car was sold on 3 June 2024. The remaining balance after the sale left Lethabo with a shortfall of R186,687.86. The certificate of balance was signed by MFC (a division of Nedbank) manager Charlot Scheffer on 1 August 2024.

Reality TV Star Refutes Owing Nedbank A Hefty Amount Of Money
However, Lejoy disputes the claim, insisting that she does not owe the bank any money.
“I’m not sure what you are talking about because I don’t owe the bank, and my debt with the bank is 0. I will send you proof I’m not owing the bank,” she told Daily Sun.
Despite promising to send the proof, she failed to do so after being reminded via WhatsApp. Lejoy maintains that her car wasn’t repossessed but was voluntarily surrendered due to personal difficulties.
When contacted, Nedbank’s Corporate Communications head, Joanne Isaacs, declined to comment, citing client confidentiality.
The star’s financial woes have left fans questioning what may have gone wrong in her usually glamorous life.
