Six individuals suspected of involvement in the tragic death of Luke Fleurs, the talented Kaizer Chiefs footballer, made a brief appearance at the Roodepoort magistrate’s court today.

The six people are being accused of the car hijacking and murder of the Kaizer Chiefs defender last week. The six were caught by the cops a few days after the murder of the soccer star.

Presenting themselves in court, Ndumiso Moswane (26), Fernando Siva (25), Nhlakanipho Dlamini (21), Franky Xaba (25), Maredi Mphahlele (36), and Thembinkosi Hlomikhawu (31) faced charges ranging from murder to possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition, along with robbery with aggravating circumstances and obstruction of justice.

Legal proceedings revealed that the accused intends to seek bail, and each has enlisted the assistance of Legal Aid attorneys.

Arnold Limekhaya, representing the state, declared the prosecution’s intent to contest the bail applications, citing the need for further investigation into the defendants’ backgrounds and their statements regarding bail.

Luke Fleurs’ tragic car hijacking and death

The tragic incident unfolded when the 24-year-old defender and South African under-23 international was ambushed and fatally wounded during a carjacking at a Honeydew petrol station just last week.

The world woke up to the tragic news that the defender had lost his life in the crime and that the perpetrators had gotten away. It was later revealed that he had children in the car with him when he was shot.

Luke Fleurs was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital after the people who found him shot rushed him to be treated. After the six suspects were killed, many fans and even his club thanked the police for their good work.
