Limpopo’s pride and powerhouse performer Makhadzi has revealed how a stadium in South Africa rejected her idea for a One woman show five years ago.

Makhadzi, whose real name is Ndivhudzannyi Ralivhona, is on the verge of realizing a lifelong dream. On December 21, she is set to headline her *One Woman Show* at the iconic Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane. This monumental event is the culmination of years of hard work, ambition, and relentless perseverance.

While excited, the artist admits that nerves and anticipation have also taken hold.

“This has been a dream of mine for the longest time. I can’t believe we are finally here, so close to making this dream a reality.”

Overcoming Rejection and Doubt

Success is rarely achieved without setbacks, and Makhadzi’s story is no exception. She candidly revealed how, five years ago, her initial attempt to host a similar show was met with rejection.

“I approached a stadium back then, but they didn’t believe in my vision or my ability to pull it off,” she said.

Instead of allowing rejection to discourage her, Makhadzi took her idea beyond borders. In Botswana, Makhadzi successfully filled a stadium, despite the absence of Venda-speaking fans. This triumph fueled her determination to bring the concept back to South Africa. Her experience at the BET Awards in Los Angeles further motivated her.

“Being in LA showed me what is possible. I wanted to bring that same level of energy and production home.”

Growth Through Challenges

The year 2023 has been a whirlwind of challenges and triumphs for Makhadzi. From grappling with a R6 million tax bill to resolving debts after borrowing money for her business class flight to the BET Awards, she has faced numerous obstacles. Yet, each hurdle has taught her valuable lessons.

“This year has been full of ups and downs, but I am so grateful for everything. I’ve made mistakes, like anyone else, but I’ve grown from them. Every experience has shaped me into a better version of myself.”
