Veteran Actor Chris ‘Bra Spokes’ April’s Cause of Death Revealed
As the entertainment world continues to mourn the death of beloved actor Chris April, known affectionately as ‘Bra Spokes,’ his cause of death has been revealed.
Chris April tragically passed away on the 31st of March 2024, at the age of 84.

Death Confirmation of Passing and Memorial Service
Early this month, Chris April’s daughter, Tia Anan, took to Facebook to announce her father’s passing and honor his legacy.
Describing him as a father, uncle, role model, and legendary actor, she invited friends, family, and fans to a memorial service which was scheduled for April 10th at the eZolani Centre.
“Rest in power daddy Chris “Bra Spokes” April. He was a father, uncle, role model, legendary actor, music influencer, teacher. He was an inspiration to everybody that he came in contact with. Memorial Service will be on Wednesday the 10th of April eZolani Centre between 15h00-16h00,” she wrote.
Chris April Cause of Death Revealed
Following his death, details about his death were not readily available. However, entertainment commentator Phil Mphela has shared new details about his death. In a post on X, he revealed that Chris April was tragically murdered during a robbery at his home in Nyanga on the Cape Flats in February.
According to a family spokesperson, Johnson Puza, thieves invaded April’s home while he was asleep. Chris April reportedly woke up during the robbery and recognized one of the robbers as they were about to leave.
The armed robbers reportedly returned and severely assaulted. Chris April suffered severe injuries in the attack.
“Thieves broke into his house where they caught him in his sleep. They took his items and when they were about to leave, he recognised one of them. Thus, they came back and injured him terribly.“
He was initially admitted to Groote Schuur Hospital on February 6th and later transferred to Mitchell’s Plain District Hospital, where he sadly succumbed to his injuries on March 31st.
“He was taken to Groote Schuur hospital, on the 6th of February until his passing at a different hospital, the Mitchell’s Plain district hospital on the 31st of March.”

Chris April gained prominence for his unforgettable portrayal of a sangoma in Leon Schuster’s film “Mama Jack” in 2005. While his role in “Mama Jack” remains iconic, April’s talent transcended this single project, as evidenced by his diverse filmography. He showcased his acting prowess in various films, including “Mia And The White Lion,” “Blended” (2014), “Accidents” (1989), “Primeval,” “Natale and Sudafrica,” “The Bone Snatcher,” and “Zulu” (2013).
