Manqoba Mngqithi Hints At Future After Mamelodi Sundowns Exit

Manqoba Mngqithi has dropped hints about his next career move following his departure from Mamelodi Sundowns earlier this week.

The experienced coach hasn’t ruled out a potential return to Lamontville Golden Arrows, the club that played a pivotal role in launching his career.

After more than a decade at Sundowns, Mngqithi was replaced by Portuguese coach Miguel Cardoso. His sudden exit has sparked rumors of a reunion with Arrows, especially after Mabhudi Khenyeza stepped down as head coach.

Speaking to Robert Marawa on 947 Radio, Mngqithi expressed his gratitude to Golden Arrows and his willingness to assist the team, although he emphasized the importance of evaluating any future opportunities.

“I will always be open to assisting at Golden Arrows in my life because I still feel indebted to that club because that club made me the person that I am they gave me an opportunity in a time when no team in South Africa could take that risk,” Mngqithi said on Wednesday.

He recalled how Arrows took a chance on him during a difficult time.

“When a team is number 16 on the log and they only have 12 points after 15 matches and then they say we want Manqoba to be the head coach, not even interim coach to become the head coach of the club because we believe he can save us…That confidence is something that I will forever indebted to because nobody would give away R50-million status to a coach that has never coached in PSL before. I had been an assistant for probably one and half years and they gave me that opportunity that for me I will always be indebted to them. I will always want to help whenever that possibility comes but I will have to listen to the projects that come in front of me,” he added.

When asked if Golden Arrows had already reached out to him, Mngqithi chose to remain discreet.

“I wouldn’t want to disclose what is happening now,” he said.
