Maskandi Star Mroza Fakude on the Run After Breaking Girlfriend’s Leg
Maskandi star Mroza Fakude is reportedly keeping a low profile in KwaZulu Natal as he fears he will be arrested for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend and breaking her leg.
The renowned artist, who made history in 2016 when he became the first maskandi artist to win the SABC Summer Song of the Year with his hit “Van Damme,” allegedly flew into a rage when his girlfriend of two years demanded the return of her car.
The singer, who hails from KwaHlabisa in the far north of KwaZulu-Natal, allegedly assaulted his girlfriend, Nosipho Mhlongo, who resides in Boksburg, Johannesburg. Mhlongo, a businesswoman, claims that Mroza physically attacked her after she demanded the return of her car.
“I have been dating Mroza since 2021. Everything was going well between us until he changed in 2023 when he struggled to get gigs,” Mhlongo recounted.
The car he won in the SABC 1 Song of the Year competition was tragically set ablaze while parked outside his home in 2020. In response, she purchased a car for him to facilitate his mobility for gigs and studio sessions in Johannesburg’s CBD. Unfortunately, Mroza was involved in an accident while driving the new car. He assured Mhlongo that he would have the vehicle repaired but failed to fulfil his promise.
“But he had an accident with the car I bought him late last year and the car was written off. At that time, he was booked to perform at Khuzani Mpungose’s birthday celebration. Since we were dating and accidents do happen, he promised to have the car fixed but to my surprise he never did,” she said.
Mhlongo further explained that when she realized Mroza was struggling to repair the car, she opted to purchase another one for herself.
“He asked me to borrow him my car and I did because we have been dating for four years and I trusted him. Again, he got involved in numerous car accidents that forced him to take my car to a mechanic in Tsakane,” she said.
Trouble brewed when she demanded to know the whereabouts of her car, and he refused to disclose the details.
“I had to involve Tracker and they managed to trace it to Tsakane. We then had an argument and he told me that we must break up and that he no longer loved me. I agreed but told him I wanted my car back,” Mhlong explained.
When she visited the location provided by Tracker on Tuesday, Mhlongo encountered Mroza at the mechanic, where he allegedly assaulted her. Mhlongo is currently hospitalized in Boksburg, receiving treatment for her injuries, and has not heard from Mroza since the incident.
She stated her intention to file an attempted murder case against Mroza once discharged. However, Mroza, when approached by ZiMoja for comment, responded by insulting the journalist.
