Master KG Nominated For 2021 Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards

Internationally acclaimed DJ Master KG has bagged yet another international nomination, this time for the 2021 Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards in the Most Favourite Global Star category. The award-winning producer took to Twitter yesterday and made the announcement.

“@MasterKGsa I’ve been nominated for a @NickelodeonKids’ Choice Award! Trophy Vote for me using the hashtags #KCA.”

The news could not have come at a better time for the Limpopo born star who celebrated his 25th birthday no less than a week ago. To mark this occasion Master KG shared a post counting his blessings, expressing how grateful he is to be seeing another birthday.

“@MasterKGsa Im Celebrating 25 Years Of Life Today but Most Definitely I wanna Thank GOD For Making Me See This Day. Happy Birthday To My Self…Thank you Everyone for supporting my Talent.”

Born and bred in Bolobedu outside Tzaneen in the Northern rural province of Limpopo, the star took the world by storm with his hit song Jerusalema featuring vocal artist Nomcebo Zikode released in December 2019. The song was picked up by international audiences the following year and became an instant global sensation, boasting a staggering 329 million YouTube views and making Master KG the first South African artist to break the 100 million views mark.

Fans including television presenter and actress Kuli Roberts wasted no time reacting to the post, pledging their loyalty and support by wishing their favorite global star the best of luck at the awards.

“@LloyedRakgoale anything for you Master.”

“@kuliroberts U’ve got this.”

His real name Kgaogelo Moagi, the superstar claims his music journey started at the tender age of 13. He eventually broke onto the national mainstream music scene with chart-topping Skeleton Move featuring Team Mosha, a popular banger which saw him win the coveted SABC Song of The Year Award (SOTY) prize in 2018.

The award soon became the center of controversy, with claims emerging that the award should have gone to his nemesis King Monada, who also had a taste of international fame with his 2018 global hit song Idibala and like Master KG, hails from the Letaba Lowveld in Tzaneen. The SABC investigated these allegations, an audit process was instigated and resulted in the corporation letting go of some of its radio service employees and the suspension of the SOTY competition altogether.

The award ceremony planned to air Saturday, March 13, on Nickelodeon, TeenNick, Nicktoons, and the Nick Jr. channel.
