Miss SA 2024 Mia le Roux has thrown her support towards embattled former contestant Chidimma Adetshina after weeks of intrigue.
Mia said this in an interview with the media, adding her voice to an issue which divided South Africa. Chidimma pulled out of the Miss South Africa 2024 days before the contest after Home Affairs revealed that her mother allegedly stole someone’s identity.

The newly-crowned Miss South Africa has spoken for the first time on the Chidimma incident. In an interview, she said she was treated unfairly:
“It was extremely hard for us because each one of us personally knows and loves Chichi. We truly believe that she did not deserve it, as we know she’s phenomenal, powerful, and beautiful in her own right. She deserved her spot on Miss South Africa.”
The Miss SA 2024 Drama
Chidimma Adetshina carries South African citizenship, but her father is Nigerian, and her mother claims to be South African with Mozambican heritage. People questioned how she was vying to represent South Africa when she appeared in one video celebrating with Nigerians after storming into the finals.
Others hounded her for her Nigerian heritage and said she was not fit to represent South Africa on the global stage.

A formal probe by the Department of Home Affairs revealed that Chidimma’s mother stole someone’s South African identity over 23 years ago. The 23-year-old law student withdrew from the Miss South Africa pageant after this revelation.
