Former President Jacob Zuma is afraid that he might be assassinated, like how US President Donald Trump almost got killed last weekend.
Jacob Zuma Fears He Might Be Assassinated After The Attempt On Trump
Last weekend, 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks fired a fatal gunshot from the rooftop of a building and grazed a piece of Trump’s ear while he was on the podium. The former US President, who is now the Republican Presidential nominee, was at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.
After a sobering road accident he survived earlier this year, former President Zuma feels he might be targeted by deadly men, too.
Mzwanele Manyi, a spokesman for the Jacob Zuma Foundation, voiced the worries:
“The foundation has been considering the implications of the failed assassination attempt on President Trump. It’s possible that similar evil plans could target President Zuma.”
The March Accident
Zuma’s safety fears started on March 28. The leader of the Umkhonto Wesizwe (MK) party was involved in a road accident but emerged unhurt after a drunk driver hit his official armoured state vehicle on the R66 in KwaZulu-Natal at 6:40 pm.
This crash occurred on the same day the Electoral Commission of SA declared that Zuma could not run as a candidate in the May 29 general election due to a 15-month jail sentence handed down by the Constitutional Court in 2021 for contempt of court.

A 51-year-old man was arrested for drunk and reckless driving in connection with the crash. The MK party, however, alleged that the crash was intentional. MK Party spokesperson Nhlamulo Ndhlela said it was too much of a coincidence for Zuma to be involved in two accidents, both caused by drunk drivers. He alleged that they were assassination attempts.
Manyi pleaded with the Government to beef up Zuma’s security:
“The foundation is urging President Cyril Ramaphosa to enhance government-provided security measures to ensure H.E President Zuma’s safety,” he said.
