The Fateful Accident
Black Coffee, whose real name is Nkosinathi Innocent Maphumulo, suffered a severe injury on his left arm when he was 14 years old. He was injured during a stampede a few hours before Nelson Mandela was released from prison.
He revealed in an interview that he dislocated his shoulder severely and damaged his nerves that connect his arm to his body. He said that there was nothing that could be done to fix his arm and that he had to live with it.
Despite his disability, Black Coffee has risen to become one of the most successful and influential DJs in the world. He has collaborated with artists such as Drake, Usher, David Guetta, and Alicia Keys. He also holds the Guinness World Record for the longest DJ set, playing for 60 hours nonstop.
