Mzansi Believes Nadia Nakai Dated AKA To Spite Bonang After YFA Season 2 Premiere
The first episode of Young, Famous, and African showcased an uncomfortable interaction between Nadia Nakai and Bonang Matheba. When Bonang was introduced at a dinner party hosted by Nigerian singer Diamond Platnumz, Nadia and Bonang failed to greet each other, raising eyebrows among viewers.
In a confessional, Bonang expressed her awkwardness, saying, “I feel very awkward because just how people welcome me, I think that was very cold.”

The Beef Between Nadia Nakai and Bonang Matheba
Nadia Nakai later admitted to having a beef with Bonang, without going into specific details. She mentioned feeling heartbroken as she considered Bonang to be like a sister, but acknowledged that fallouts happen in relationships and it’s okay.
Some viewers speculated on Twitter that Nadia’s decision to date AKA, who had previously dated Bonang between 2015 and 2017, might have been a form of retaliation.
A Twitter user shared, “If Nadia says her fallout with Bonang happened before AKA, then is it fair to wonder if she didn’t date that gent to spite B?”

The Complicated Relationship with AKA
Bonang’s alleged secret romance with the late rapper AKA began in 2015, while AKA was still in a relationship with DJ Zinhle, who was pregnant at the time. This led to Bonang being labeled a “homewrecker.” However, Bonang and AKA became a beloved couple in the industry.
Their relationship ended as dramatically as it began, with AKA accusing Bonang of using witchcraft on him in 2018. After the tragic death of AKA’s fiancee, Anele “Nelli” Tembe, rumors started swirling about his relationship with Nadia Nakai.
In March 2023, the couple went Instagram official and remained together until AKA’s untimely death earlier this year.
