Mzansi Rejoices After Oscar Pistorius Was Denied Parole

Oscar Pistorius, the former Paralympian who was convicted of murdering his girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp, has been denied parole.

He had shot and killed her in his Pretoria home on Valentine’s Day in 2013. Initially, he was found guilty of culpable homicide but later convicted of murder in 2014, as he must have known his actions would lead to death.

Pistorius appealed for early release after serving 8 years of his 13 and five-month prison sentence. The parole board rejected his application because he had not served the “minimum detention period.” Pistorius can reapply for parole in a year.

People React to Oscar Pistorius being denied parole

There was a public outcry on social media, with critics arguing that Pistorius doesn’t deserve parole as he murdered his girlfriend without remorse. Some have also said that he should serve his full sentence without the possibility of parole.

@Roger

13 years is low enough for murdering somebody. He must do the whole 13 years. Coward. He killed her out of anger and jealousy. It’s fine I don’t mind paying my taxes to keep him there.

@ApheleleJody;

If Oscar Pistorius gets released on parole after he cruelly murdered his girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp will just show how our country doesn’t care about GBV

Why release a murderer ?? To kill again ???

@thee_adv;

Oscar Pistorius should never be given parole. What he did to Reeva Steenkamp was brutal, and he failed to tell the court the real story of that fateful day.

I don’t buy the story of thinking it was an intruder, and the SCA also states this in the appeal judgment.
