Nomzamo Mbatha Opens Up Her Role On Coming To America 2
Former Isibaya actress, Nomzamo Mbatha who played Thandeka Zungu on the show has finally opened up about her role on Coming To America II which will premiere nationwide on cinemas and on Amazon Prime Video on the 5th of March.
The actress said she plays the role of a barber called Mirembe on the international franchise and said in an interview with Daily Sun that getting the gig wasn’t easy.
“Going to auditions and trying to make this dream come together was also hard. It was good to finally get that big yes because the move to America was not an easy one.”
The actress gave a description of her character:
“She’s a traditional woman but also very unconventional as most women of her family work as maids in the palace while she’s a barber. But while I was having fun, I had to make sure I portrayed the character in a truthful way and I had to find her rhythm and essence.”
This is what she said when she was asked about working with the big stars of Hollywood:
“Working alongside the likes of Eddie Murphy and Wesley Snipe was such a daunting and humbling experience. I was literally surrounded by Hollywood royalty. I had the most fun working with them. They’re so professional and good at what they do.
My journey has been colorful but not always easy. Throughout, I exercised my courage muscle because I had to make a lot of emotional and financial sacrifices to be where I am today.
I can only hope it gets better and wait to see where it takes me. The movie is going to be all over the world and I’m very nervous about how my life will change after this but also hopeful.”
This will be Nomzamo Mbatha’s first international blockbuster!
