Ntseki Revealed Gonzalez’s Condition Before Sundowns Showdown
Kaizer Chiefs’ head coach, Molefi Ntseki, has shed light on the situation surrounding their new striker, Jassond Gonzalez, in the lead-up to their first-leg MTN8 semi-final clash against Mamelodi Sundowns.
Gonzalez, a 24-year-old forward, recently completed his loan move from Real Santa Cruz.
However, he is still awaiting the completion of the necessary paperwork for his registration with Amakhosi, which might delay his debut until after the upcoming FIFA International break, according to Ntseki.
Paperwork Pending
Regarding Gonzalez’s potential participation, Coach Ntseki stated,
“When it comes to Gonzalez playing this week or any other time, I think we are still waiting for the paperwork to be finalized.” He continued, “But, if everything is done on time, I think he’ll be able to play for us when we come back from the national break.”
Strategic Planning
While Ntseki expressed satisfaction with the recent performances of players like Pule Mmodi, Tebogo Potsane, Ashley du Preez, and Mduduzi Mdantsane, he emphasized the importance of strategic planning for various scenarios throughout the season.
He discussed the need to prepare for situations where the current starting front four may lose form, suffer injuries, or face suspensions.
Ntseki elaborated,
“I always say any team performance is affected by three phases. You’ve got your top four, the front four, maybe they’re getting it right, they are winning games, scoring goals, but there will be times where there will be a loss of form.”
He emphasized the importance of having backup options ready to step in when needed.
Adapting to Challenges
The coach emphasized the need to adapt to the challenges that the game itself presents.
He mentioned that injuries, red cards, or a loss of form can occur at any point during the season.
Therefore, it is crucial to have a well-prepared squad to face these eventualities and maintain the team’s performance standards.
