On The Run| Police Hunt For Ayanda Thabethe’s Baby Daddy Peter Matsimbe
Law enforcement authorities have faced challenges in apprehending the polarizing entrepreneur, Peter Matsimbe, recognized as Ayanda Thabethe’s Baby daddy.
According to a report from Sunday World, Peter Matsimbe, a Mozambican-born entrepreneur, has been evading capture since an arrest warrant was issued against him by the North Gauteng High Court in 2020.
The warrant stems from allegations of fraud related to the disappearance of ten high-end vehicles while they were under Matsimbe’s custody.
Authorities in Sandton are currently conducting an investigation into the potential scenario that Peter Matsimbe might have managed to leave the country and enter Zambia, as there have been reports indicating his frequent movement in and out of the country without being detected by authorities.
THE ALLEGED FRAUD DRAMA
In March, it was reported that court documents filed in August 2019 disclosed that Peter Matsimbe allegedly utilized counterfeit documentation to secure financing from Standard Bank for the acquisition of luxury vehicles from different dealerships.
Allegedly, Matsimbe executed these actions through his company, known as Matsimbe and Co.
Among the vehicles allegedly purchased by Peter Matsimbe using fraudulent means were a Toyota Hilux, Toyota Land Cruiser, Lexus SUV, Lexus LX, McLaren MP4 coupé, BMW X5 SUV, Can-Am Maverick, Audi Q3, Nissan Navara, and a Volvo mechanical horse.
In 2019, Standard Bank obtained a court judgment to reclaim the vehicles from Matsimbe, who reportedly disregarded the order. Consequently, the bank obtained a warrant of committal for contempt of court against Matsimbe.
The warrant mandated Matsimbe’s arrest for a period of 30 days, yet only two vehicles, the McLaren and the Volvo, were successfully retrieved.
In a related incident, Matsimbe’s brother, Richard, was allegedly involved in a comparable scandal.
He purportedly obtained a loan of R22 million from businessperson Jacobus Jansen for the purchase of two luxury vehicles.
Earlier this month, Sunday World reported that Richard abandoned his residences in Hyde Park, Johannesburg, in an attempt to evade arrest.
