“Our Prayers Have Been Answered”: Mzansi Rejoices as Idols SA Ends After 21 Years
Idols SA, South Africa’s well-known music talent show, has come to an end after 21 successful years.
Entertainment commentator Phil Mpela confirmed the news of its cancellation via Twitter. He stated that the 19th season of Idols SA would be the final one.
“TV: Idols South Africa cancelled
After 21 years, #IdolsSA will be bowing out of our screens.
The show has been renewed for a 19th season, which will be the show’s final season.”
South Africans have expressed their joy on social media after the cancellation of Idols SA, claiming it was long overdue. The audience had become tired of the show, with some even frequently calling for its cancellation. Some have argued that the renewal of Idols SA for its 19th season should not have happened.
Following the cancellation of Idols SA, viewers in South Africa have already started proposing new shows to take its place. Suggestions include the return of South Africa’s Got Talent, Clash of the Choirs, and Coca-Cola Pop Stars.

Finally someone had to pull the plug. This show was becoming more about the the judges than the contestants, most viewers stopped watching based on the judges panel. I last followed this show the season which was won by Khaya or Musa.

Finally 👏🏾👏🏾😩 the 19th season is not necessary they can leave it as is.
@Jabu_Mcdonald;
With this one I am not sad but happy and disappointed by how it became pointless because majority of the winners just disappear and never make it after the show.
