Book Details AKA and Anele Tembe’s Tragic Love Story
The book titled “When Love Kills: The Tragic Tale of AKA and Anele” is expected to hit bookshelves later this month.
In 2021, Tembe passed away under tragic circumstances, allegedly falling from the 10th floor of the Cape Town Pepperclub Hotel in the early hours of the morning. AKA, on the other hand, was shot and killed in Durban in 2023 in an alleged hit.
The description by the book’s publishers NB Publishers reads:
“They’d been caught up in a whirlwind of toxic obsession, alleged substance abuse and violence.”

Author Shares Emotional Journey
On the third anniversary of Anele Tembe’s passing, Melinda Ferguson took to Facebook to make an announcement. She revealed that she had never put in more effort or been more unnerved by any of her previous books. According to her, this particular story comes straight from the source, and its creation had an impact on her personal relationship.
“I have never worked harder on a book. I have never been more freaked out by a story… So here it is from the fire horse’s mouth. It’s been a real journey to get this out. It nearly killed my own relationship. It’s a story that broke my heart,” she shared in an announcement on Facebook.

Parents Distance Themselves From Book on AKA and Anele Tembe’s Relationship
Now, Lynn and Tony Forbes, the parents of AKA have released a joint statement distancing themselves from the new book by Melinda Ferguson.
“We are not in any way associated with Melinda Ferguson’s book, and we do not endorse it, in the same breath we distance ourselves from the contents of the book,” part of the statement reads.
AKA’s parents said that when Melinda reached out they declined to contribute to her book. They concluded the statement by expressing their inability to comment further on the book since they were unaware of its contents. They did, however, find the timing of its publication distasteful and opportunistic.
“When Melinda reached out to us we respectfully and rightfully declined to contribute to her book. At this stage we cannot give any further comment on the book as we are unaware of its contents. We do however find the intended publication of the book and the timing distasteful and opportunistic,” the statement ends.
