Paseka Motsoeneng, publicly known as Pastor Mboro, a self-proclaimed prophet and pastor, has been granted bail after spending more than a month in custody. The Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court granted him bail on Thursday, 12 September, with a set amount of R3000 and strict conditions attached to his release.
Mboro’s Arrest and Charges
Mboro, his son, and his bodyguard were apprehended in early August following an incident at Matsediso Primary School in Katlehong. The three men were accused of brandishing dangerous weapons at the school on 5 August. Since that date, Mboro has remained in police custody.
The altercation stems from an ongoing family dispute over the guardianship of Mboro’s grandchildren, two young boys currently attending Matsediso Primary School in Grade R and Grade 2. The family conflict reportedly escalated following the death of the children’s mother in April 2024.
Details of the Legal Proceedings
The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) has confirmed that Mboro, along with his co-accused, is facing a series of serious charges. These charges include kidnapping, illegal possession of dangerous weapons, and unlicensed firearms. In addition, Mboro is being accused of possessing a prohibited firearm, assault by means of threat, and pointing a firearm at another individual.
The charges also extend to discharging a firearm and malicious damage to property, further complicating the case against Mboro and his co-accused. The outcome of these charges will be determined in the coming weeks as the legal proceedings continue.
Strict Bail Conditions Imposed
While Mboro has been granted bail, his freedom comes with strict conditions. The court has limited his movements and actions during his time out of custody. Failure to adhere to these conditions could result in his bail being revoked and a return to police custody.
