Deputy President Paul Mashatile ‘s Shocking Scandal: South Africans Demand Answers as VIP Protection Unit Faces Fury

Deputy President Paul Mashatile has found himself in the hot seat after a video of his security details assaulting motorists in Fourways, Johannesburg surfaced on social media.

The shocking footage shows armed members of the VIP protection unit dragging three men out of a blue VW Polo and unleashing a barrage of blows upon them.

A total of eight members from the unit are seen repeatedly kicking the defenceless victims, with one man left motionless on the ground.

In response to the incident, the Office of Deputy President Paul Mashatile confirmed that it was indeed his security detail involved in the weekend assault.

In a carefully crafted statement released on Tuesday, Mashatile acknowledged the unfortunate event and stressed his abhorrence towards the unnecessary use of force, especially against unarmed civilians.

He expressed his full support for the National Commissioner of the SAPS, General Fannie Masemola, who pledged a thorough investigation into the matter and emphasized the importance of responsible and controlled conduct by police officers.

Deputy President Mashatile urged the public to give the SAPS the space needed to complete their investigation and take any necessary corrective action.

He showed confidence in the leadership of Minister Bheki Cele and General Masemola to handle the situation appropriately.

However, the public response to Mashatile’s statements was one of scepticism, with many South Africans doubting that any real consequences would befall the members of the VIP protection unit involved.
