Pearl Thusi’s Unapologetic Zimbabwe Trip: Middle Finger and All

South African actress and media personality Pearl Thusi has made a bold statement, expressing that she won’t apologise for her recent journey to Zimbabwe.

The “Propaganda” Visit

Pearl Thusi, along with actors Sello Maake kaNcube, Sonia Mbele, and a team of journalists, visited Zimbabwe to promote tourism. Their itinerary included meetings with government officials and a visit to President Emmerson Mnangagwa at the State House in Zimbabwe.

The excursion sparked criticism from both Zimbabweans and South Africans on the internet, who accused them of promoting propaganda and endorsing a government accused of suppressing its citizens.

Pearl Thusi Clarifies Her Zimbabwe Trip

Yesterday, Pearl Thusi took to Instagram to address the controversy surrounding their journey. She made it clear that she won’t be apologising for anything:

“When I was asked to go to Zimbabwe, there was one thing I was told. Tourism. To showcase Zimbabwe to the entire world to show a different narrative of Zimbabwe that there’s beauty. Invite people to come and spend money in Zimbabwe, show that Zimbabwe is powerful and incredible in its own special ways. When we arrived, it was like, ” Oh, there is a gala dinner; oh, there is a state visit.”

“I am not going to apologise for anything. What I will say is I did not know that I was going to be at the State House, and I did not know that I was going to be in a situation that was going to look politically charged. We were told we were going to serve a tourism moment. When I got there, imagine now you’re there; imagine being rude to like the Head of State. Hayi, hmm hmm. No, I’m not gonna do that. But also, I did not spread any propaganda.”
