Jozi FM radio personality Penny Ntuli has revealed that she received an offer to work with another radio station, which she declined. Ntuli has confirmed that she will remain with Jozi FM for the foreseeable future, showcasing her loyalty to the station, which has been an integral part of her journey.

Ntuli’s career hasn’t been without its challenges. She previously worked at Gagasi FM but left after exposing mistreatment at the station. Ntuli revealed that she was severely underpaid, being offered a mere R2,800 monthly for hosting a three-hour show.

At the time, she clarified the rumours surrounding her departure, explaining that while she initially accepted the role, the shocking pay offer led her to reconsider. “I felt unappreciated and disrespected,” Ntuli shared when recounting the experience.

Feeling Undervalued: A Stand Against Unfair Treatment

Ntuli’s dissatisfaction at Gagasi FM extended beyond the paycheck. After approaching her superiors for a salary renegotiation, her request was denied. Instead, one of the senior staff, Ayanda Melansi, advised her to consider other opportunities within the station aside from her on-air role.

Frustrated by the lack of appreciation for her work, Ntuli decided not to renew her contract, ending her time at Gagasi FM. The situation marked a turning point in her career, as she chose to prioritize her self-worth and professional integrity over staying in an exploitative environment.

New Opportunities: Another Radio Offer on the Table

Recently, Ntuli found herself at a similar crossroads when she received a new job offer from another radio station, this time with a much more attractive salary package. Despite the appealing financial incentive, Ntuli chose to speak with Jozi FM’s CEO before making any decisions.

According to Ntuli, the CEO gave her the freedom to make the right choice. Her current employer’s respectful and understanding approach played a significant role in her decision-making process.

Loyalty Wins: Gratitude to Jozi FM

After reflecting on her time with Jozi FM, Ntuli decided to stay, expressing deep gratitude for how the station and its leadership have treated her. “When I look back at my journey, I’m reminded of how patient and accommodating Jozi FM has been,” she wrote on social media.

She recalled how Jozi FM went above and beyond to support her transition to Johannesburg, including booking her a hotel for an entire month and ensuring she was comfortable in her new role. Feeling valued and appreciated by Jozi FM, Ntuli ultimately declined the new job offer.
