Despite acting like a seasoned pro, Siphesihle Ndaba had no acting experience prior to Gomora.

The actress got the part of Mazet in an interesting way, as she was out of the country at the time and sent her tape through and was eventually asked her to come for a second call and she got the part.

Siphesihle Ndaba admitted that at first she was apprehensive about playing Mazet, because she thought people wouldn’t like the character because of her criminal activities.

Said the actress

At first glance, I honestly thought that people wouldn’t like Mazet as she is a villain and tempts a young man into a life of crime.

I’d like to think people like her because she represents a lot of South Africans. She is driven and she wants a better life for herself.
