“Please Rest, We Are Tired”: Social Media Erupts as Lady Zamar Revisits Sjava Rape Case
Songstress Lady Zamar, known as Yamikani Janet Banda offstage, has once again ignited a storm of controversy on social media after readdressing her alleged rape ordeal involving fellow musician Sjava.
The incident dates back more than three years, to a night in 2017 when Lady Zamar accused Sjava of raping her at a hotel in Thohoyandou, Venda, Limpopo, following a concert. However, the case was ultimately declined for prosecution in November 2020.
Taking to social media in a video clip, Lady Zamar fervently stands by her claims, attempting to dispel the misconceptions surrounding the high-profile case.
One of the primary misconceptions she refutes is the notion that her rape allegations stemmed from bitterness after Sjava introduced his wife, a perspective that some social media users had labeled her as a “bitter side chick.” Nevertheless, her efforts to clarify her stance have triggered a barrage of backlash from online users who criticize her motives.

Lady Zamar Sparks Fresh Uproar Over Sjava Rape Allegations
One section of the online community accuses Lady Zamar of seeking attention, suggesting that her timing coincides with Sjava’s recent success, hinting that she may be trying to undermine him. They express their exhaustion with the continuous drama and plead for the focus to shift back to other pressing matters. Some users even poke fun at her use of filters in her video, questioning why she has chosen this moment to reopen the discussion.
Notably, a vocal faction of social media users condemns Lady Zamar’s actions, labeling her as bitter and evil, and go as far as claiming she intends to destroy Sjava’s life. There are even calls for her arrest and jail time, with some proposing legal action against her for defamation. The division is evident as some individuals believe she should have let the police’s decision stand, while others empathize with her decision to share her story publicly.
Despite the controversy, there is an overwhelming sentiment from a portion of social media users who express fatigue with the ongoing saga, urging Lady Zamar to “rest” and move on from the issue. They highlight that the country faces numerous other challenges, and the constant rehashing of this particular story only serves to further divide public opinion.
