Podcast and Chill Sounds the Alarm on Fake Producer’s Email Scam

Podcast and Chill, hosted by MacG and Sol Phenduka, has raised the alarm about a scam email that’s circulating.

The email claims to be from Dudu, the show’s producer, and invites people to pay up to R57,000 for a chance to be guests on the podcast.

Podcast And Chill Sets the Record Straight

The podcast’s management issued a statement on their social media and YouTube accounts on August 11th, clarifying that the email is a scam. They advised their audience to be cautious and verify any communication claiming to be from the show.

Podcast And Chill warned:

“Chillers NOTE‼️ There’s A SCAMMER going around portraying as our producer Dudu. Please note that we (as Podcast and Chill Network) do not send any emails or messages via GMAIL ACCOUNTs or any unauthorised email address. Be on the lookout for any suspicious emails or communications of some sort… To verify, we do advise you to contact the relevant information in our description box on YouTube.”

In a gesture of appreciation, Podcast and Chill thanked their fans for their ongoing support and encouraged them to keep engaging with the show by subscribing, following on social media, and sharing content.

The podcast recently celebrated a milestone of reaching one million subscribers. It marked the occasion with an event at Sun Arena in Pretoria, where MacG proposed to his partner Naledi, with whom he has two children.

A Rising Concern: Cybercrime in South Africa

Unfortunately, Podcast and Chill isn’t the only target of cybercrime in South Africa. The country ranks sixth in global cybercrime impact.

According to Interpol, cybercrime cost the South African economy an estimated R10.337 billion in 2016.
