KwaZulu-Natal Plumber Wins R38 Million Lotto Jackpot
A KwaZulu-Natal plumber’s life took a dramatic turn when he discovered that he had won over R38 million in the Lotto Plus 2 jackpot.
The fortunate winner, who prefers to remain anonymous, learned of his good fortune on Sunday evening as he was getting ready for bed.

KZN Plumber Mistakes Life-Changing Win for Routine Notification
Speaking to TimesLives in an interview, the KwaZulu-Natal plumber revealed that when he received an SMS from his bank on Sunday evening, he initially thought it was just another routine notification about a small lottery win.
“I received an SMS from the bank earlier informing me I had won money and needed to contact Ithuba. At the time, he had not yet checked his Lotto numbers and was unsure of the exact amount he had won. “I usually leave it to the bank for small wins, which they deposit directly. Previously I’ve only won small amounts like R50, R100, or R5.”
Initial Reaction to the Massive Win
The plumber, who had only ever won modest amounts before, was not prepared for the news that awaited him.
“As I made my way to the Ithuba office, I was hoping for at least R1 million to help improve our home. Even that seemed like a stretch. Imagine my shock when I found out I had won R38 million — I felt overwhelmed, as if I were in a dream.”
The winner described the moment as surreal and emotionally intense, but he quickly began thinking about the future and how to use the money wisely.
Plans for the Future
With his newfound wealth, the plumber’s first priority is securing a “warm home” for his wife and two children. He also plans to focus on long-term financial stability by investing in his children’s education and saving for their future.
“It’s important to me that this money continues to support us for a long time. I’m eager to receive financial advice and learn about proper investments,” he said emphasizing his desire to make wise financial decisions.
