Rapper Mnqobi Yazo Joins The River Cast
The river is in overdrive!!
After adding veteran actor Seputla Sebogodi to its cast, another big name in the name of rapper Mnqobi Yazo has joined the tv series.
The Maskandi and Afro Pop singer will be playing the character named Steven.
Mnqobi Yazo — As Steven—joins the show at a time when things are about to get more aggressive and combative on Mzansi’s multi-award-winning telenovela; The River with the arrival of a triplex army of Mohumi Ditshwene played by Seputla Sebogodi, Mad Dog played by Segomotso Modise.
The timing of his feature is perfect, especially now that he just dripped a hot new album that is topping charts.
Real name Mnqobi Msimango, he was born and bred KwaMaphumulo in KwaZulu Natal.
Mnqobi is not new to acting, he has previously featured on Moja Love’s Erased.
Although he does not have so much experience, he says he got the exposure from the music industry which has taught him much about acting.
He is part of the team recently added by The River creator Phathu Makwarela to shake things up on the show.
Steven, played by Mngqobi is a former Khanvisa Diamonds employee and a Refilwe resident. He’s got a grudge against Lindiwe’s right-hand man; Zolani. He felt unappreciated by management, left and struggled to find greener pastures elsewhere.
Speaking on his new role to SunBuzz, Mnqobi said:
“As a musician who has worked hard to create a name in the music industry, I’ve gained more exposure by getting the opportunity of acting.
Now I’m waiting to watch myself on television.
I’ll be happy to continue developing my acting skills and take it as my second career.
I’m grateful to get an opportunity in the acting industry to showcase my other talents,” he said.
