Reality television personality Annie Ludick-Mthembu and her husband, entrepreneur Kgolo “Daguru” Mthembu are rumoured to be facing difficult financial times. Financial pressures, business complications, and personal loss have all played a role in what has become a trying period for the couple.

Kgolo Mthembu, a businessman known for managing popular nightlife venues, has reportedly encountered considerable financial difficulties. Earlier this week, DJ Bongz, a music producer and DJ named Bongani Dlamini, announced that he had taken ownership of Viewz Urban Grill and Rooftop (previously known as Views At Twenty5) in Durban.

According to sources, the venue had been under Kgolo’s management, but he faced obstacles threatening to shutter the business entirely. A friend of a DJ associated with the venue shared that Bongz decided to acquire the venue to prevent its closure, explaining that it seemed more practical to pass ownership to someone with industry experience than to risk losing the space.

Back in February, there were reports of unrest among employees at Kgolo’s Durban nightclub, with claims that salaries had gone unpaid due to significant financial losses. This sparked further concern about the venue’s stability and raised questions about the future of Kgolo’s business ventures.

Challenges from the Start

The beginning of the year brought more complications for Kgolo. Popular Durban DJ Wobbly, also known as Andile Mahlinza, publicly accused Kgolo of withholding payment for multiple bookings, leaving Wobbly financially strained.

According to Wobbly, he made substantial efforts to accommodate Kgolo’s establishments, even borrowing money to make it to scheduled performances. However, despite persistent efforts to collect the owed payments, he reported receiving no response from Kgolo or his management team.

In a heartfelt message, Wobbly expressed his frustration:

“I have gone out of my way, taking loans just to keep up with commitments, but I’m back to living with my mother at 32 because I couldn’t make ends meet. This hurts, but after so many attempts, I still don’t have any answers about payments owed from my work at Rich and Views.”

Personal Loss and Emotional Strain

Adding to the financial stress, Kgolo faced a personal tragedy with the passing of his first child’s mother, Gugu Phahla. This loss not only affected him deeply but also had an emotional impact on his daughter, to whom he addressed a heartfelt message: “Dear Daughter, we have weathered so many storms together, and this too shall pass. Everything is going to be okay.” The message reflected Kgolo’s resolve to stay strong despite the multiple difficulties he has been facing this year.

Social Media Scrutiny and Bullying

Annie and Kgolo’s relationship has also become a topic of public scrutiny, with both facing criticism and online bullying. Recently, a blogger circulated claims about their marriage struggles, leading to increased speculation. Annie, who has been open about their journey as a couple, addressed the rumors surrounding Kgolo’s alleged infidelity and reports of him expecting a child outside their marriage. In response, she noted, “There are malicious, toxic individuals who are set on tearing me down, but we will rise above this.”
