Sunday World reported that in their text conversations, the “Skeem Saam” actor inquired about Hlahla’s relationship status and professed that she occupied his thoughts constantly. However, Hlahla was sceptical of his sincerity.

“She dismissed his affection as a mere pretence, asserting that she knew he harboured feelings for Pearl. She even urged him to be truthful and express if he desired assistance in relocating to the US instead of feigning interest in her,” disclosed the source.

Attempts at saving the marriage

In an attempt to rekindle their romance, Maake KaNcube dispatched representatives to settle the remaining lobola payment owed to his estranged wife after her departure. However, Mbewe declined the gesture.

Subsequently, the actor sought legal counsel from Swanepoel van Zyl Attorneys to initiate divorce proceedings following his unsuccessful reconciliation efforts. Allegedly, the firm requested an upfront payment of R25,000.

Confirming his engagement with the law firm, Maake KaNcube stated, “I haven’t made the payment yet.”
