The SARS Lawyer in the case against Shauwn Mkhize, who is popularly known as Mamkhize, was shot three times in a suspected assassination attempt.
Details of the Attack
On Thursday, Advocate Coreth Naude, who represents SARS in a tax inquiry involving the controversial businesswoman Shauwn Mkhize, was shot while driving in uMhlanga. The incident occurred as she was entering a hotel parking lot, when two assailants fired at her vehicle.
Naude was shot three times in her upper body, neck and face and she survived the injuries and is currently in hospital. The advocate survived the attack and was rushed to hospital where she had surgery and is now in intensive care unit.

Official Responses
SARS Commissioner Edward Kieswetter has described the incident as an attempted assassination. He condemned the attack, calling it a disturbing act aimed at intimidating court officers. The SARS official statement shared that the attempt on Naude’s life is probably linked to people who are trying to escape justice.
SARS however shared that the lawyer is recovering from her injuries in hospital and the case which she was working on will still go on until justice is served. Many finger on social media are pointing at the Durban-based businesswoman on the attack but no arrests have been made so far.

Police Investigation
KZN police spokesperson Robert Netshiunda confirmed that a case of attempted murder has been registered and an investigation is underway to apprehend the perpetrators. The police are looking for anyone with information on the shooters and any information related to the attempted assassination.
