Saweetie Accused Of Stealing Ceraadi’s Song

Saweetie is gearing for the release of her debut album, Pretty Bitch Music.

The ‘Tap In’ rapper teased the visuals of her new single “Best Friend” featuring Doja Cat. Saweetie had issues previously with her label who leaked the single. Now the ‘Best Friend’ is ready for release.

The single is accompanied by colorful visuals that include sexy outfits, cars, handbags, and bling. However, the internet streets were quick to pick on similarities with another song.

Roc Nation signees, sister duo Ceraadi called out icy Girl about the lyrics and visuals for “Best Friend”. Taking to Instagram, the R&B duo shared photos of a car scene from their video for “BFF.” They tagged Saweetie and Dojacat, “@saweetie @dojacat”

Ceraadi’s ‘BFF’ was released in September of last year. There are several similarities in the lyrics and music video storytelling. Ceraadi’s “BFF” includes the lyrics, “When we ride, we be lit, lit / She know she bad, yeah she thick, thick / She gon’ do the time if I click, click.” On “Best Friend,” Saweetie raps, “That’s my best friend / She a real bad bitch / Drive her own car / She don’t need no Lyft.”

Several fans of the duo also shared their observations about the similarities. One fan tweeted,

“that new saweetie and doja looks fun but i can’t help but think of ceraadi’s song they just dropped last year…”

“Omg we’ll totallyyyy add you in the credz! MY IDOLS,” she wrote in Ceraadi’s IG comments. Saweetie wrote with a stream of emojis.

Other fans have come to the Bay Area entertainer’s defense. The Dave Meyers directed video for Saweetie and Doja Cat’s “Best Friend,” is set to debut today.
