Saweetie Makes Acting Debut On ‘Grown-ish’
Saweetie can add actress to her resume!
The “Tap In” rapper has been one of hip hop’s ‘It-Girl’ and now she’s going into acting. Saweetie revealed she will be in the forthcoming season of Grown-ish. As previously reported the second half of season three returns on January 21.
Saweetie will make an appearance as a rapper, Indigo, who gives Yara Shahidi’s character, Zoey, a hard time. The Bay Area native posted a clip from her scene on the Freeform show.
She captioned, “Are y’all ready for Indigo’s mean ass Big 7! I’ll be on @grownish this Thursday, January 21st at 8/7c on @Freeform TV!”

The Grown-ish Instagram page confirmed the rapper’s appearance on the show. They posted,

The show’s star, Yara Shahidi gave her co-signed Icy Girl’s appearance. She posted a photo of herself rocking a white wig, with Saweetie. “Hiii @saweetie ❄️aka ZOEY’s NEWEST CLIENT 💁🏽♀️ #Grownish”

About her role, Saweetie said to Entertainment Weekly,
“I wanted to make sure I delivered. I feel like with roles, whether if it’s an episode or in a music video, you always have to commit to the emotion of what you’re trying to portray.” She said “I thought it was cool, a little cheating but that’s okay: I played an artist and I’m an artist myself. But the girl’s attitude and personality is completely night and day with mine so I did have to learn about her. She’s a diva, she’s bossy.”
Grown-ish, which has also been renewed for season four, is currently available to stream now on Hulu and will return on January 21, 2021, at 8/7c.
