Music superstar Kabza De Small has cancelled his upcoming show in Soshanguve following the brutal death of DJ Peter “Mashata” Mabuse.
The Complicated Lives Of Entertainers
Kabza De Small anticipated performing at the Bom Extravaganza All-Black Edition in Soshanguve, Pretoria. The event was taking place on 27 April, which is Freedom Day.
The internationally acclaimed Amapiano producer’s management had long agreed with the promoter and scheduled Kabza to rock his fans. However, none of them foresaw the tragedy that happened this past weekend.
The Ruthless Assassination Of DJ Mashata
Early on 21 April, the disc spinner and MC Mashata were booked for an all-black event at a club in Soshanguve. His set was without incident, and energy bounced off him and the revellers inside the venue. Always full of light, Mashata concluded his performance with Heal The World by Michael Jackson.
It was going to be the last song of his life.
After leaving Epozini Lifestyle with an unidentified person, suspected hired hitmen prowled on DJ Mashata near Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) and fired gunshots at his cab.
He died callously, with his passenger miraculously surviving the horror incident. Pictures of the entertainer’s bullet-riddled truck prove he was never going to make it alive.

The gory event of that night was scaring Kabza De Small, who had to go to Soshanguve this coming Saturday.

As Mashata’s death shocked many, Kabza was also petrified. The Imithandazo hitmaker quickly informed his management that he would no longer perform in Soshanguve on Freedom Day.
Knowing how costly this could be for Kabza’s brand, his management persuaded him to reconsider his decision. The lean Amapiano grootman stuck to his guns.
His management apologetically wrote a letter to the Bom Extravaganza All-Black Edition organisers:
“After long conversations with our client Kabelo Motha, we have reached a conclusion to cancel the event happening this weekend due to the sudden events that occurred this past weekend, due to the safety of our client. But we would like to consider a full refund, as we don’t know when the client (Kabza) will be comfortable to travel to Soshanguve.”
The club conceded on Instagram:
“We have tried to convince the management team and artist to consider their decision to cancel and went as far as committing to providing an enforced security detail consisting of VIP Protection, etc, to ensure his safety concerns are put to ease. However, our attempts did not bear any desirable outcomes. We, therefore, would like to send a sincere apology to all our patrons and Kabza supporters for the inconvenience this may have caused.”
