“She Loved Him as His Side-chick”: Senzo Meyiwa’s Brother Defends Kelly Khumalo, Counters State’s Claims Against Songstress
In a surprising turn of events, the brother of late soccer star Senzo Meyiwa, Sifiso Meyiwa has stepped forward to defend his brother’s girlfriend, Kelly Khumalo.
As the trial unfolds, Sifiso’s voice emerges as a staunch advocate for Khumalo, dismissing attempts by the State to implicate her in the tragic death of Senzo Meyiwa.
Sifiso Meyiwa Rallies Behind Kelly Khumalo
Speaking candidly to eNCA on Sunday, August 27, Sifiso Meyiwa openly expressed his support for Kelly Khumalo, countering the notion that she had any association with the five individuals accused of murdering Senzo Meyiwa.
The slain sportsman, an illustrious figure within the realm of Orlando Pirates and Bafana Bafana, was tragically taken from the world in an alleged botched robbery at Kelly’s family home in Vosloorus, Gauteng.
Dismissing Falsehoods
Contrary to the State’s claims, Sifiso adamantly asserted that no intruders entered the household during the fatal incident.
Challenging the testimony of Colonel Lambertus Steyn, a data analyst and investigation officer, Sifiso dismissed claims that accused number five, Fisokuhle Nkani Ntuli, had contacted Kelly Khumalo before Senzo’s murder.
He candidly stated that Senzo Meyiwa’s murder was a mistake.
“He is being used by Brigadier Bongani Gininda. All of this is fabricated. Kelly has never worked with these guys [the accused]. I’m saying it again, nobody was hired to kill Senzo. His murder was a mistake.“
Sifiso also firmly stated that Kelly would never have orchestrated Senzo’s murder as he claimed that she loved him dearly as his side chick.
Kelly would never have planned Senzo’s murder, she loved him as his side-chick although she knew that Mandisa [Senzo’s wife] was in the picture.”
He however asserted that Kelly should step forward and provide her account of the events from the witness stand.
They are lying that Kelly called the suspects. She, too, should take to the witness stand and explain exactly what happened.
Unearthing the Truth
Sifiso further revealed insights into the circumstances surrounding Senzo Meyiwa’s tragic death.

Shedding light on Longwe Twala’s involvement, he highlighted that the firearm Longwe arrived with was not intended for Senzo Meyiwa. Instead, it was linked to a dispute with Zandie Khumalo, Longwe’s girlfriend.
Even Longwe Twala, who arrived with the firearm, did not intent to shoot Senzo. He was fighting with his girlfriend [Zandie Khumalo] when the shooting incident occurred,” Sifiso stated.
