Amid ongoing financial trouble surrounding Royal AM, its owner Shauwn “MaMkhize” Mkhize has set tongues wagging after making a surprise appearance in Eswatini over the weekend.
The Durban-born businesswoman was spotted at the Ingwenyama Cup final between Royal Leopards and Moneni Pirates on Sunday, donning the colours of the latter team.
Mkhize was accompanied by her son Andile Mpisane and other Royal AM officials at the Somhlolo Stadium, adding fuel to speculation that she may be exploring opportunities beyond South Africa’s borders.

A video clip has since gone viral showing MaMkhize engaging with local football fans and suggesting she could purchase a football club in Eswatini. According to SABC Sport journalist Xoliswa Zondo, the remark was made shortly after Moneni Pirates lost the match.
While some believe it was a light-hearted comment, others see it as a serious hint — possibly foreshadowing her next business venture amid Royal AM’s financial crisis.
Royal AM’s Financial Turmoil Continues
The speculation comes at a time when Mkhize’s Royal AM is facing deepening financial and legal challenges. The South African Revenue Service (SARS) reportedly froze several of her assets — including the club — over a tax debt said to be around R40 million.
With the club now allegedly under the control of SARS, there are growing concerns over its future in the Premier Soccer League (PSL), prompting fans to wonder if Mkhize is already planning her next football chapter elsewhere.
