Shebeshxt Shuts Down Drunk Driving Claims After Daughter’s Tragic Death

South African rapper Shebeshxt has broken his silence on the claims that he was intoxicated on the night of the tragic accident that claimed his nine-year-old daughter’s life.

The rapper, born Lehlogonolo Chauke, was involved in a car accident in June while driving with his daughter, Onthatile Chauke, and his baby mama on the R37 road in Limpopo. His vehicle collided with a truck and overturned, leading to Onthatile’s death at the scene.

In response to ongoing rumors that alcohol played a role in the incident, Shebeshxt firmly denied the allegations.

“I Didn’t Even Touch Alcohol”

Speaking publicly on Tuesday, 3 September, Shebeshxt refuted claims that he had been drinking the night of the accident, The DailySun reveals.

People said I was intoxicated, but on that night, I didn’t even touch any alcohol. I know I always get judged, but I wonder what made people think I had consumed alcohol and continue peddling lies,” he stated.

Music Career in Jeopardy After Loss of Daughter

The rapper also opened up about how the loss of his daughter almost pushed him to quit music.

She’s the reason I wanted to change my life. I wanted to leave my old ways of doing crime and be a better person for her,” Shebeshxt shared during the launch of his upcoming one-man show in Polokwane.

He credited his music career as a way of moving away from a life of crime and building a future. Despite his grief, Shebeshxt vowed to continue being a positive role model.

Now, I know she might not be here in person, but she’s a spirit. I’ll continue being a better person, not just for my fans but for her too,” he said.
