Shocking Assassination Caught on Camera: Prominent Rustenburg Businessman Gunned Down in Broad Daylight Outside Coffee Shop
In a shocking incident, prominent businessman Jabulani Ben Gumbi was gunned down outside a popular coffee shop in Rustenburg.
The entire incident was captured on CCTV, revealing the brazen attack by two assailants. This tragic event has left the community in shock and the police are currently investigating the motive behind the assassination.
The Attack
At approximately 8 a.m., Jabulani Ben Gumbi was ambushed by two gunmen in front of Platō Coffee on Kock Street. The CCTV footage shows the assailants approaching the businessman while he was engrossed in his cellphone.
One of the gunmen, wearing a white hat, fired three shots at close range, hitting Gumbi in the head. As he fell, the other gunman fired one more bullet before they both fled the scene.
Eye Witness Account
A woman sitting nearby heard the gunshots and immediately ran inside the coffee shop for safety. She was only about three meters away from the incident. The entire incident was captured on CCTV, clearly showing Gumbi being shot multiple times before collapsing.
Investigation and Motive
Police spokesperson Brig Sabata Mokgwabone confirmed the shooting and stated that the police are actively investigating the case.
Gumbi’s family was shocked by his murder and revealed that he had received death threats earlier in the month in connection with a land development dispute. A video shared by a family member shows Gumbi talking about the alleged threats, warning those who declared war against him and the development. In the video, he can be heard saying;
Those who declare war against me and the development, brace yourself, it is not going to be easy. Just make sure you do not lose, it will not be easy. If you declared war and threatened me and my family, please be sure of what you are doing. You may be the worst loser, whether I am here or not. It is not a threat but a promise. Be sure you know what you are doing. Be careful.”
