How The Alleged Hit Unfolded
The disc spinner performed at an All-Black With Mashata event on Saturday at Epozini Lifestyle in Shoshanguve Block G, Pretoria. Mashata kept the crowd on its feet with his performance. As he closed his set at midnight, he played “Heal The World” by the late Michael Jackson and sang along.
Upon leaving Epozini Lifestyle, DJ Mashata set out in his white double cab with another person, oblivious to the tragic fate awaiting them. The DJ reached Tshwane University of Technology (TUT), and the unidentified gunmen emerged. They sprayed Mashata with multiple bullets, which killed him.
Pictures circulating online show how the fatal bullets poked several holes in his truck to ensure lethal precision. Done, the assailants fled the scene. The person Mashata had in his car survived the shootout and is nursing injuries in hospital.
The South African Police Service (SAPS) is trailing several leads to apprehend the alleged hitmen.
Old Footage Of DJ Peter’ Mashata’ Mabuse Speaking At The Late DJ Sumbody’s Funeral Crushes Hearts
A video has emerged showing Mashata speaking at DJ Sumbody’s funeral back in 2022.
Just like Mashata, who was shot dead in the early hours of Sunday, 21 April, DJ Sumbody, born Oupa John Sefoka, was gunned down early Sunday, 20 November 2022. Suspected hitmen rained bullets on him and his bodyguard as he was coming from a performance in Woodmead, Johannesburg. DJ Sumbody died on the scene, while his bodyguard died days later.
At DJ Sumbody’s funeral, Mashata spoke glowingly of DJ Sumbody. Little did he know he would perish in the exact same way.
Mashata eulogised:
“Allow us to celebrate the life of a giant. A man who lived his life. A career that spanned more than a decade, and he connected with us in so many ways. He was many things to many people. And many of us here, on any occasion, have met Oupa one on one. You connected with him in a different way.
Two years after delivering a passionate speech at his friend’s funeral, DJ Mashata has followed him. The two pals and entertainers were killed in a burst of gunfire after their performances.
