In a gripping tale, shocking details have emerged in court surrounding the murder of Skeem Saam actress Amanda Manku’s mother and her grandmother.
The court learned about how Amanda Manku’s mother had obtained a protection order against her accused husband, William Manku, and how he played a role in the murders.
Arrest and Charges Unveiled
On Tuesday, 23 January, Amanda’s father, 53-year-old William Manku, appeared at the Magatle Magistrates Court alongside his lover, Nonhlanhla Ngubo (42), and co-accused David Khoza.
A collaborative effort involving the Limpopo murder and robbery unit, the provincial tracking team, and the Benoni flying squad led to the apprehension of the suspects. They were arrested following the tragic shooting of Amanda Manku’s 70-year-old grandmother and her 45-year-old mother while fetching water at a local tap on 4 May 2021.
They filed a bail application, but the court postponed the proceedings to 30 January to continue the application. The charges they face include conspiracy to commit murder, robbery with aggravated circumstances, attempted murder, two counts of murder, and defeating the ends of justice.
Shocking Revelations in Court: Amanda Manku’s Mother’s Protection Order
During the proceedings, a police officer from the Provincial Detective murder and robbery unit in Polokwane testified anonymously. According to the Daily Sun, the officer revealed that a protection order had been issued against William by Amanda’s mother in 2020.
The officer expressed concerns about William potentially interfering with witnesses if released on bail, citing his presence at the crime scene on the day of the murder. Notably, the two men involved in the case have not been located yet

Detailing the tragic events leading to the murder, the officer recounted that, on the fateful day, two men approached the victims’ house under the pretext of fixing a wheelbarrow. When they arrived, the two deceased, who were accompanied by a child, had gone to fetch water. They instructed the men to return the following day.
William Manku allegedly played a role in urging his wife and mother-in-law to return home due to the late hour, unwittingly leading them to a fatal encounter with the two mysterious men.

A colleague was promised one million rand to steal the docket from the office. The officer, maintaining discretion, refrained from disclosing the identity of the colleague involved.
