Son Kills Mother With Axe in Limpopo and Carries Body in Wheelbarrow

In a chilling incident, a 42-year-old man hacked his mother to death with an axe and put her corpse in a wheelbarrow.

The man who was arrested on Tuesday at Mamaila village in Limpopo is scheduled to appear in the Tiyani magistrate’s court later this week.

Details of Horrific Incident According to Neighbours

Police say the man was allegedly heard by neighbours shouting at and insulting his mother before committing the horrific act. After committing the blood-curdling crime, the man later allegedly summoned a neighbour to see the contents of the wheelbarrow he was pushing.

Police spokesperson Brig Hlulani Mashaba revealed that upon inspection, the neighbour discovered the lifeless body of the man’s mother.  The neighbour alerted other community members and swiftly delivered mob justice before notifying the police of the incident.

“It was discovered he was carrying the body of his mother. Community members immediately attacked the suspect and police were notified about the incident,” Mashaba said.

Son Kills Mother in Limpopo

Upon arriving at the scene, police found the body of the woman wrapped in a blanket and placed in a wheelbarrow. They called emergency services who certified the woman dead. The woman was identified as 69-year-old Mamaila Moloi Matele.

“Police found the body of a woman wrapped in a blanket and put inside the wheelbarrow. Emergency services personnel certified the woman dead. She was identified as Mamaila Moloi Matele, 69. A case of murder was opened,” Brig Hlulani Mashaba said.

Police rescued the dead woman’s son from angry community members who were baying for his blood. He was taken to a hospital for treatment where he was arrested in connection with the heinous incident and placed under police guard.
