While many see depression in a bad way, it surely helped Sophie Lichaba not to take seriously any social media bullying about her weight loss.

She was too depressed to even know what people were saying about her, she has said.

The actress, formerly Sophie Ndaba, who shot to fame playing the role of Queen Moroka on Generations, has opened up about her depression while she was battling diabetes away from the public eye.

Speaking to Radio 2000 this weekend, Sophie said she did not feel any impact of social media during her most challenging time.

The actress who has been off screens due to her prolonged diabetes illness has been a victim of cyberbullying due to her weight loss.

At one point, rumors which claimed that she had died were all over the internet.

But the actress says she never saw anything wrong with her body during all that time.

She told the radio that she could still see herself as the Generations “Queen” and could wear those clothes and people’s opinions did not make sense.

“I was at the deepest point of depression. I can’t even explain it. When I think about it, I am like ‘God, you saved me’ because I would look in the mirror and see the same voluptuous woman. You wear the same clothes, the same style at that size and you still think it is normal. That is how deep it was, I couldn’t see a thing.”

“It was like ‘Who are they talking about? They are talking about me!’ I snapped out of it. Nobody came to me, no friends came to me, and said ‘I think you are losing weight too rapidly. Are you still on that diet?” she was quoted saying.
